OMODA&JAECOO is preparing to launch its new JAECOO J7 SHS in the UAE, bringing a self-charging hybrid SUV to market that offers a notable combination of long-distance capability, refined design, and regional practicality. Set to arrive by the end of August, the J7 SHS (Super Hybrid System) is designed for drivers who want the benefits of electrified mobility without the limitations of charging infrastructure—an especially relevant pitch in a country where inter-Emirate travel is routine.
Unlike conventional plug-in hybrids or fully electric vehicles, the J7 SHS operates with a hybrid system that eliminates the need to plug in. It offers up to 1,200 kilometers of range on a full tank and charge (WLTP), while also delivering 90 kilometers of pure electric driving—ideal for short urban commutes and errands where emission-free travel is preferable. This setup allows drivers to enjoy a quiet, electric-like experience in the city while having the security of petrol-powered backup for longer trips.
The J7 is also tailored for the Gulf’s demanding climate. Capable of operating in conditions from -35°C to 60°C, it offers a combined fuel efficiency of just 3.1 liters per 100 kilometers in charge-sustaining mode. These performance metrics suggest strong potential appeal for UAE drivers who value endurance, comfort, and cost efficiency in both city and highway driving.
Safety is another cornerstone of the J7 SHS’s offering. The SUV holds a five-star rating from Euro NCAP and ANCAP, backed by an advanced safety suite that includes lane support, curtain airbags, automatic emergency braking with cyclist and pedestrian detection, and a rapid battery shutdown system to prevent post-crash hazards. These features align the J7 with international safety expectations while addressing real-world regional conditions.
Power comes from a 1.5TGDI turbo engine paired with dual electric motors, producing a combined 328 horsepower and 515 Nm of torque. The hybrid system is managed by a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT), which replaces traditional gear transitions with seamless acceleration. It’s a powertrain built for both control and comfort, not just efficiency.
Inside, the J7 SHS is trimmed with premium features that reinforce its upscale positioning. The interior features Nappa leather, ambient lighting, and a panoramic sunroof. A 13.2-inch HD infotainment system supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while a Sony audio system and a 540-degree panoramic camera further enhance driving and safety. The vehicle also includes Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, allowing users to power external devices—useful for outdoor activities or emergencies.

While the J7 SHS is the first model in this new hybrid lineup, OMODA&JAECOO plans to follow it with the more powerful J8 SHS, which will deliver nearly 600 horsepower, 915 Nm of torque, and AWD performance with 0–100 km/h acceleration in 5.4 seconds. A smaller C7 SHS is also on the horizon, rounding out a lineup intended to cover a wide range of consumer needs.
OMODA&JAECOO is positioning itself as a serious player in the UAE automotive space. Backed by a 12,000 sqm parts hub in JAFZA and a logistics partnership with Maersk, the brand has invested heavily in regional infrastructure to support fast delivery and reliable aftersales service. Distribution is handled through established partners in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and the Northern Emirates.
As hybrid and electric options grow more relevant in the region, the J7 SHS offers a practical, forward-looking solution—especially for drivers who want electrified driving without the friction of charging. With its official debut just weeks away, the J7 may serve as an early indicator of how hybrid technology will evolve to meet the everyday demands of Gulf roads and lifestyles.
