Chinese automotive brand iCAUR has officially entered the Middle East market with the launch of the V27 SUV, making its regional debut in the UAE. The introduction marks the company’s first step toward a broader Middle East expansion, as regional governments and consumers continue to show interest in alternative powertrains and lower-emissions vehicles.
The iCAUR V27 is positioned as a range-extended electric vehicle (REEV), combining electric propulsion with a petrol-powered generator. The vehicle is driven by electric motors and a battery pack, while a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine functions solely as a generator to recharge the battery when needed, rather than powering the wheels directly. This setup is intended to address common concerns around range anxiety while reducing overall fuel consumption and tailpipe emissions compared to conventional internal combustion SUVs.

According to iCAUR, the V27 offers a total driving range of more than 900 kilometers, with up to 150 kilometers available in fully electric, zero-emissions mode. This range profile is designed to suit typical daily driving in the UAE while retaining the flexibility required for longer journeys. Power output is rated at 449 horsepower, with top speeds of 170 km/h for rear-wheel-drive versions and up to 180 km/h for all-wheel-drive variants, placing the V27 in line with performance expectations for midsize SUVs in the region.
The company views the timing of the launch as aligned with regional policy and market trends. With the UAE continuing to invest in cleaner mobility initiatives, iCAUR sees growing demand for vehicles that balance electrification with practicality. The V27 is positioned as an option for buyers who are interested in electrified driving but are not yet ready to move to a fully battery-electric vehicle.
Design plays a central role in the V27’s positioning. The exterior adopts a boxy, upright silhouette inspired by traditional SUVs, paired with modern lighting elements and a functional front grille. Details such as squared headlamp housings, pronounced wheel arches, and a dual sunroof contribute to a utilitarian appearance aimed at standing out in a crowded SUV market. Off-road-oriented proportions, including a low window line and large glass areas, are intended to improve visibility, while the wide-body stance allows for larger wheel and tire options.

Inside, the V27 focuses on space efficiency and technology. Features include a large central touchscreen, ambient lighting, multiple storage compartments, a flat second-row floor, and a multi-speaker audio system. Practical specifications include 220 mm of ground clearance and a towing capacity of up to 1.6 tonnes, suggesting moderate off-road and utility capability rather than extreme use.
With the V27, iCAUR is positioning itself as a new entrant offering electrified SUVs that combine familiar design cues with alternative powertrain technology. Its success in the Middle East will likely depend on how well the vehicle’s pricing, reliability, and aftersales support align with regional expectations as the market continues to evolve.
