Chery UAE, through distributor AW Rostamani, has rolled out its first plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) across the Emirates. The new arrivals — the TIGGO 9 PHEV SUV and the Arrizo 8 PHEV sedan — mark the brand’s push into electrified mobility in a region where interest in hybrid and electric models continues to rise.
The move comes as carmakers face growing demand for more fuel-efficient, lower-emission options, and as the UAE positions itself as an early adopter of cleaner transport solutions. Chery is aiming to offer customers a balance of performance and sustainability, with both vehicles promising long combined ranges that blend battery power with traditional combustion.
The flagship TIGGO 9 PHEV enters the premium SUV segment with two trims: AWD Premium and 2WD Luxury. Under the hood, it combines a 1.5TGDI petrol engine with a dual-motor hybrid system and a three-speed hybrid transmission. Together, they deliver up to 610 horsepower and 920 Nm of torque, numbers usually reserved for high-performance cars rather than family haulers. The large 34.46 kWh battery provides up to 170 km of pure electric driving, while the full hybrid system stretches the combined range to over 1,200 km.

The seven-seat SUV also leans heavily into comfort and tech. Features include a panoramic roof, noise-reducing glass, up to ten airbags, a 15.6-inch central display, and a 14-speaker premium audio setup. Safety and driver-assist features round out a package designed to compete with established premium rivals.
For sedan buyers, the Arrizo 8 PHEV offers a more understated but equally tech-focused option. Its hybrid system combines the same 1.5TGDI engine with an electric motor, good for a pure electric range of 118 km — longer than many competitors in its class. The battery system emphasizes safety with constant monitoring, IP68-rated durability against water and dust, and automatic cutoff in emergencies. Inside, the Arrizo 8 sports a sleek dual 24.6-inch display across the dashboard and premium audio to match.

Both vehicles feature standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, keeping connectivity straightforward.
Speaking about the launch, Zaher Sabbagh, Director of Chery UAE at AW Rostamani, said the new hybrids are meant to appeal to a new kind of customer: drivers who want efficiency and sustainability without giving up performance or comfort.
Chery has been steadily expanding its global presence, with the UAE playing a key role in its Middle East ambitions. The brand has now brought two of its most advanced models to a market where hybrids are gaining traction as a bridge between traditional engines and the still-developing EV charging infrastructure.
The TIGGO 9 PHEV and Arrizo 8 PHEV are now available for viewing and test drives at Chery UAE showrooms.
