Caterham is taking a significant step towards its electric future with the announcement of Yamaha Motor as a development partner for its highly anticipated Project V electric sports coupe. This collaboration brings together Caterham’s legacy of lightweight, driver-focused vehicles with Yamaha’s expertise in electric powertrain technology.

Yamaha will supply its latest e-axle to power the Project V prototype. This compact and lightweight electric powertrain aligns perfectly with Caterham’s philosophy of minimalist design and exhilarating performance. Yamaha will also contribute its expertise in vehicle motion control, further enhancing the driving dynamics of the electric sports coupe.

First unveiled as a design concept at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2023, Project V is now moving closer to production. Caterham’s collaboration with Yamaha accelerates this process, bringing the vision of a lightweight, electric sports car to life.

The Project V prototype is being developed by TOKYO R&D, a renowned engineering firm with a proven track record in developing prototype and production vehicles for major automotive manufacturers. The prototype is expected to be completed by mid-2025.

Under the ownership of VT Holdings, Caterham is embracing the electric era while staying true to its core values of lightweight design and pure driving enjoyment. The partnership with Yamaha marks a significant milestone in Caterham’s journey towards electrification.

By combining Caterham’s motorsport heritage and Yamaha’s technological prowess, Project V promises to be an exciting addition to the electric sports car segment. The collaboration ensures that Project V will not only meet the performance expectations of a Caterham but also accelerate its arrival on the market.
