The newest Apple Pencil with USB-C has now joined the updated charging party at Apple with its USB-C compatibility. It’s more affordable, but has also some cutbacks in terms of features. So, what has changed and is it worth buying?

The Apple Pencil USB-C is a sleek and stylish stylus that is slightly shorter than the previous generation Apple Pencil. It has a matte finish that is comfortable to hold and does not slip easily. The pencil also has a flat edge that makes it easy to clip onto your iPad.

The new charging port is now hidden under the hood, just pull the cap that will smoothly slide out and reveal the port. The cap is powered by magnets which latch into place. That USB-C port is used for charging the Apple Pencil and also the pairing process.

One of the things which Apple removed with this version is induction. Unlike the Apple Pencil (2nd generation), which was able to charge and pair by just placing it on the side of the iPad, the newer versions relies only on its USB-C port. Another feature missing here is the double-tap gesture that allowed you to swap between tools.

The Apple Pencil USB-C has a number of features that make it a great choice for note-taking, sketching, and drawing. It has tilt sensitivity, which allows you to shade and create shadows. The Apple Pencil USB-C supports ultra-low latency to 9 ms on iPads with 120Hz ProMotion displays.

Compatible with M2 iPad Pros, the Apple Pencil USB-C also includes the hover feature that allows previews of tap position, in addition to info like tooltips on apps that support it.

The Apple Pencil USB-C is priced at $79, which is a good value for the price. It is more affordable than the previous generation Apple Pencil, and it offers a number of features that make it a great choice for a variety of users.

The Apple Pencil USB-C is compatible with the following iPads: iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th gen), iPad Pro 11-inch (all models), iPad Air (4th and 5th gen), iPad Mini (6th generation) and the iPad (10th generation).

Here’s a a quick comparison between the available Apple Pencils:

The Apple Pencil USB-C is an excellent stylus that is perfect for note-taking, sketching, and drawing. It is comfortable to use, has a long battery life, and is very affordable. If you are looking for a stylus for your iPad, I highly recommend the Apple Pencil USB-C.
