Percy Jackson season 3 trailer finally tackles the book fans wanted

Percy Jackson is heading into territory the films never reached. Disney+ has released the official trailer for season 3 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, confirming that the series will adapt The Titan’s Curse when it premieres on November 20 with two episodes on Disney+ and Hulu. After that, two episodes will arrive each week.

That alone makes this season meaningful for longtime fans. The film adaptations stopped after Sea of Monsters in 2013, so Rick Riordan’s third book has never been shown on screen. For readers who grew up with the novels, this is the point where the story gets darker. The live-action version is only now catching up to it.

The core of the plot is personal. Annabeth has been captured by forces loyal to Kronos, and Walker Scobell’s Percy doesn’t need much more reason to act. But the rescue sits inside a much bigger problem. A goddess has gone missing and needs freeing, a prophecy hints at serious losses, and the idea that Olympus could actually fall stops sounding like an exaggeration. Grover is back at Percy’s side, along with companions he would not have picked himself.

Book readers know who many of those companions are. The story starts with a mission to bring two young demigods, Nico and Bianca di Angelo, to safety, and it goes badly. Artemis vanishes, and her Hunters arrive with little interest in Percy’s help. Percy is left off the official quest and joins anyway, which is very much in character. Thalia also takes a much bigger role. She is another child of the Big Three, as stubborn as Percy, and her past with Luke adds tension to every decision the group makes. The race to find Annabeth and Artemis runs on a deadline set by the winter solstice.

What makes The Titan’s Curse an important adaptation is its effect on everything after it. Several characters introduced here, and some choices made along the way, shape the rest of the series in ways that newcomers are better off discovering unspoiled. The show has handled pacing unevenly in the past. Here it has a book that is tighter and more dangerous than the first two, and that is a good fit for a show trying to raise the stakes.

The weekly double-episode release should also keep the conversation going for longer than a full-season drop would. The bigger question is whether the show can carry the book’s emotional weight. If it lands, season 3 could be the point where Percy Jackson becomes a fully grown-up fantasy series.
