Ring refreshes its entire Doorbell lineup in the UAE, starting at AED 249

Video doorbells are supposed to be about stopping porch pirates and spooking intruders. In the UAE, one of the safest countries on the planet, that pitch should fall flat, but it doesn’t. Ring says the country has one of its highest device densities per household anywhere in the world, and the reason has very little to do with crime.

That makes Ring’s latest launch an interesting one. The company has refreshed its doorbell range in the UAE with four new models: three battery-powered and one wired, with 2K or 4K video depending on the model. It’s also launching a solar charging accessory and a second-generation Spotlight Cam in battery and plug-in versions. Prices start at AED 249, and everything is on sale now. Each device includes a free trial of Ring Pro, the subscription that unlocks Ring’s AI features.

The New Doorbells at a Glance

Battery Video Doorbell Pro (2nd Gen) – AED 999
This is the top of the range and Ring’s most advanced battery doorbell yet. It records in Retinal 4K and offers up to 10x Enhanced Zoom, so faces, packages, and other details on your doorstep come through more clearly, day or night. Redesigned internals support Ring’s fastest-charging battery so far, which keeps up with the high-resolution video and heavier feature set. It installs almost anywhere without rewiring.

Battery Video Doorbell Plus (2nd Gen) – AED 699
The mid-range battery option records in Retinal 2K and adds a Quick Release Battery Pack. Recharging takes less effort because you swap the pack out instead of taking the whole doorbell off the wall.

Battery Video Doorbell (2nd Gen) – AED 399
The entry-level battery model offers Retinal 2K video and up to 6x Enhanced Zoom in a slimmer, rechargeable design. It’s a good pick if you want sharp video without paying flagship prices.

Wired Video Doorbell (2nd Gen) – AED 249
This one is for homes that already have doorbell wiring. It records in Retinal 2K, never needs recharging, and is the cheapest way into the new lineup.

Ring Solar Charger: Less Time Charging

The new Ring Solar Charger works with all three new battery doorbells: the Pro, the Plus, and the standard 2nd Gen model. It’s built into the mounting design, so the doorbell sits directly on top of the charger and tops itself up from the sun. In a region with as much sunshine as the Gulf, you’d probably rarely need to charge it yourself.

Spotlight Cam (2nd Gen): Brighter Nights, Flexible Power

Ring is also releasing the Spotlight Cam (2nd Gen) in two versions:

  • Spotlight Cam Battery (2nd Gen) – AED 699: It uses a dual-chamber battery design for more flexible power management and now supports the Quick Release Ultra Battery Pack (sold separately).
  • Spotlight Cam Plug-In (2nd Gen) – AED 699: It runs on continuous mains power.

Both models record in 2K and have a 550-lumen spotlight that improves night-time visibility and helps deter unwanted visitors.

Ring Pro: Where the Real Smarts Live

A Ring Pro subscription adds features that make the footage from all of these devices more useful:

  • Video Descriptions summarize motion events in plain language, so you don’t have to watch every clip.
  • Video Search lets you find moments with everyday phrases like “red lorry in my back garden” or “black dog playing.”
  • Single Event Alert groups repeated motion alerts from the same event into one notification, so you get fewer pings.
  • Familiar Faces works on 2K, 4K, and select HD devices and can tell you when a friend or family member stops by.
  • Up to 180 days of video history gives you more time to go back to important events.
  • Extended Live View lets you watch in real time for longer.

Convenience Is the Killer Feature

All of this lands in a market that Ring says is growing faster than many mature Western ones. Mohammad Meraj Hoda, Ring’s Vice President of Business Development for the Middle East, Africa, and India, names the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and the wider Gulf as key markets for smart home adoption.

What stands out is how people here use these devices. In the Gulf, a doorbell camera is less a security system and more a household logistics tool. People use it to confirm the courier really showed up, see when the kids get home from school, check in on household staff, and keep an eye on the holiday home.

Built With Renters in Mind

Dubai and Abu Dhabi are full of expats in rented apartments, and anyone who has asked a landlord about drilling into a wall knows how that goes. Three of the four new doorbells run on batteries, which suits the region well. Ring also offers peephole doorbells that replace your existing door viewer without permanent changes, so when the lease ends, the doorbell goes in the moving box with everything else.

Higher Resolution, Now With a Purpose

Ring took its time moving to 2K and 4K, and it says that was deliberate. Its argument is that more pixels didn’t matter until there was something smart enough to use them. With familiar face recognition, smart video search, single-event alerts, and automated video descriptions now available, the higher resolution finally has a job to do.

Arabic Is Coming, Just Not Yet

Ring’s packaging, communication, and apps already support Arabic. Its newer AI features don’t yet. Ring says that work is underway and expects rollouts to start taking shape around 2027.

We sat down with Mr. Mohammad Meraj Hoda, Ring Vice President, Business Development, Middle East, Africa, India, to talk about the market, the renter problem, Ring’s move to higher resolutions, and when Arabic will get the AI treatment.

The Q&A With Mohammad Meraj Hoda

  • Q: How does the Middle East fit into Ring’s broader regional strategy?
A: Key target markets include the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and the broader Gulf region. Surprisingly, despite the UAE being one of the safest places globally, Ring sees one of its highest per-household device densities there. The primary driver is convenience rather than fear of crime—such as managing deliveries, monitoring second homes, checking on nannies, and seeing when kids return from school.
  • Q: Competitors moved to 4K a while ago. Why did Ring wait?
A: Ring prioritizes cloud-backed utility over chasing specs. Higher resolutions like 2K and 4K became relevant once paired with meaningful AI capabilities introduced this year—such as familiar faces recognition, smart video search, single-event alerts, and automated video descriptions.
  • Q: Many residents here rent and can’t drill into walls or rewire doors. How is Ring addressing that?
A: Battery-powered video doorbells eliminate the need for hardwired electrical connections, making them far more popular and easier to adopt. Additionally, Ring developed peephole doorbells specifically for apartment dwellers, allowing renters to swap out existing peepholes without damaging doors and take the unit with them when they move.
  • Q: Where does Arabic language support sit on the roadmap, particularly for the new AI features?
A: Arabic is central to the regional strategy across packaging, communication, and apps. Ring is actively working on integrating Arabic into its newer software and AI features, with rollouts anticipated to begin taking shape around 2027.
