Barcelona’s shirt has become one of the most closely watched advertising spaces in football since Spotify’s sponsorship deal began. For the next El Clásico, the club’s chest won’t feature the streaming giant’s logo at all. Tyler, The Creator’s GOLF WANG label is taking over the shirt, with a full lifestyle collection launching alongside it.

The GOLF logo will replace Spotify’s branding on Barcelona’s home shirt when the men’s team faces Real Madrid at Spotify Camp Nou on October 25. FC Barcelona Femení will wear the kit a day earlier, on October 24. The jersey also appears in Konami’s eFootball from October 23, a small detail that shows how much these kit takeovers now depend on digital exposure as well as the match itself.
Spotify has been giving its shirt space to musicians for several years. Drake, the Rolling Stones, Rosalía, Coldplay and Olivia Rodrigo have all had their names or logos across Barcelona’s chest. What Spotify says is different this time is the level of control. It describes the GOLF WANG partnership as the first time an artist and their brand have been given complete creative control over a takeover. That stretches beyond the shirt to a full apparel range, a short film directed by Tyler, and a launch event in Barcelona.
The collection reflects GOLF WANG’s offbeat approach to sportswear rather than sticking to standard football merchandise. Pieces include a letterman jacket, track jacket and pants, zip hoodie, soccer shorts, retro jerseys in long and short sleeves, and three graphic T-shirts, one carrying a “GOL!!F” design. Accessories include a co-branded scarf, beanie, socks, Nalgene bottle, football, enamel pin and stickers. The colours lean on brown, teal, burgundy, blue, black and white. Only 1,899 jerseys are being made, a reference to the year Barcelona was founded, so expect them to sell out quickly and reappear on resale sites at much higher prices.

The collection goes on sale October 15 at GOLF stores in Los Angeles, New York, Tokyo, Sydney and London, online through GOLF WANG, and at select Barça stores in Spain. Pricing hasn’t been confirmed, and there’s no word on wider availability for fans in the Middle East or elsewhere. Spotify will mark the launch with a “Copa De Golf” event in Barcelona on October 24, featuring a DJ set from Yung Taco and performances from local artists.
For Spotify, the takeovers are a way to turn shirt sponsorship into regular music marketing moments. For Barcelona, they bring in a new crowd of fashion and music fans. The open question is whether giving artists this much control becomes the template for future takeovers.
