Apple has released iOS 27.2 beta 2 and iPadOS 27.2 beta 2 to developers, continuing testing of an update that is shaping up to bring several notable changes across the iPhone and iPad.
The second developer betas carry build number 24B5089g and arrive just five days after Apple distributed the first iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2 developer betas. Apple hasn’t provided details about any new features or significant changes specific to beta 2 yet, suggesting this release may be focused primarily on refining what appeared in the initial build.
That first beta was considerably more interesting. Among its additions was a redesigned Health app, giving Apple another opportunity to rethink how the increasingly large amount of health and fitness information collected across its devices is presented.
Siri’s expanding AI capabilities are also part of the iOS 27.2 testing cycle, with five additional languages introduced in the opening beta. Broader language support is particularly important as Apple continues expanding its AI features beyond the markets and languages initially supported.
Elsewhere, Apple added Apple TV profiles to the iPhone and iPad and introduced additional themes for CarPlay Ultra. These aren’t headline-grabbing changes individually, but they illustrate how Apple’s major point releases increasingly operate as feature drops rather than simply collections of bug fixes arriving between annual iOS upgrades.
For developers, beta 2 is available through Apple’s usual testing channels. Registered developers can download the appropriate software through the Apple Developer Center or install it over the air by heading to Settings, selecting General, opening Software Update and choosing Developer Beta under Beta Updates.
As always, installing an early developer beta on a primary iPhone or iPad comes with the usual risks. Bugs, battery drain, compatibility issues and unexpected crashes can appear during testing, and features may change or disappear before the public release.
Apple is simultaneously progressing its wider software ecosystem. Second developer betas of watchOS 27.2, tvOS 27.2 and visionOS 27.2 have also entered testing, alongside macOS 27.2 Golden Gate beta 2.
The absence of an official change list for iOS 27.2 beta 2 means the more interesting details will likely emerge as developers spend time with the build. For now, the short five-day gap between releases suggests Apple is moving quickly through this particular stage of iOS 27.2 development.
