Fortnite’s crossover machine is turning toward Persona 5, with Joker, Ann Takamaki and Morgana set to arrive in Epic Games’ battle royale on September 25. The collaboration expands Fortnite’s current focus on gaming characters while giving Atlus’ stylish RPG another unusually large mainstream appearance.
Epic Games has teased the upcoming Persona 5 content through character silhouettes, confirming that Joker and Ann will be joined by Morgana when the Fortnite Item Shop refreshes on Friday. Morgana is being introduced as a sidekick rather than a playable outfit, a fairly logical choice given the character’s proportions.
The collaboration itself isn’t a surprise. Persona 5 had already been announced as part of Fortnite’s current Gaming Legends-heavy season, but the September 25 release date finally gives players a firm date for when the Phantom Thieves will make their debut.
Some of the more interesting details remain unofficial. Information reportedly uncovered from Fortnite’s game files suggests both Joker and Ann could receive alternate styles. Ann may have a look based on Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight, while Joker could swap his Phantom Thief gear for his Shujin Academy uniform.
Joker may also receive a transformation emote allowing players to switch appearances during a match. Those details should still be treated as unconfirmed until Epic reveals the complete cosmetic lineup.
There are also unanswered questions surrounding the wider bundle. Fortnite collaborations routinely stretch beyond character skins into back bling, harvesting tools, emotes, music and other cosmetics, but the full Persona 5 selection hasn’t yet been detailed.
For Fortnite, Persona 5 fits neatly into a strategy that has increasingly turned the game into a meeting point for major gaming franchises rather than simply a battle royale with occasional licensed skins. The Persona crossover follows other gaming and entertainment additions, including Kingdom Hearts and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners content introduced during Chapter 7 Season 4.
Persona 5 is particularly well suited to that approach. Joker has already escaped the boundaries of his original RPG through appearances in games such as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, while the franchise’s distinctive visual identity gives Epic plenty of material for cosmetics and emotes.
The remaining details should become clear when the collaboration goes live on September 25 across platforms supporting Fortnite. Until then, Joker, Ann and Morgana are the confirmed headline additions, while the leaked alternate styles offer the biggest reason for Persona fans to watch the Item Shop closely.
