Belkin is taking a different approach to improving portable chargers at IFA 2026. Rather than simply adding more capacity or pushing charging speeds higher, the company’s latest UltraCharge Pro power banks are built around semi-solid-state batteries designed to address two less glamorous problems: battery degradation and heat.
The new range includes a 5,000mAh UltraCharge Pro Slim Magnetic Power Bank and a larger 10,000mAh UltraCharge Pro Power Bank with Display. Both use what Belkin calls its BoostSolid Cell technology, a semi-solid-state battery architecture that combines a gel-like layer with a liquid electrolyte.
Belkin says the technology allows it to package batteries more efficiently while reducing swelling as cells age. More significantly, the company claims its BoostSolid-equipped power banks can last up to three times longer than conventional alternatives. That could be meaningful for an accessory category where battery degradation often turns an otherwise functional charger into electronic waste, although that longevity claim will need years of real-world use before it can be properly judged.
Safety is another part of Belkin’s pitch. The power banks contain two temperature sensors that check conditions every 250 milliseconds, with the system capable of stopping power delivery when temperatures move beyond its operating limits. Belkin also claims the battery architecture reduces the potential for thermal runaway and fire.
Semi-solid-state batteries themselves aren’t exclusive to Belkin. Other accessory manufacturers, including Kuxiu and BMX, have already introduced power banks using similar technology. Belkin’s arrival is nevertheless notable because it brings the battery design into a mainstream accessory portfolio rather than treating it primarily as a technical novelty.
The smaller UltraCharge Pro Slim Magnetic Power Bank 5K measures 8.8mm thick and supports Qi2 magnetic wireless charging at up to 15W. A USB-C connection increases wired output to 22.5W. Belkin claims the design is 40% thinner than comparable 5,000mAh power banks, potentially making it a more practical option for users who want to leave a magnetic battery attached to their phone while carrying it.
The UltraCharge Pro Power Bank 10K with Display trades that portability for considerably more versatility. Its 10,000mAh capacity is paired with USB-C output of up to 60W, making it suitable for charging compatible laptops and tablets as well as smartphones. It provides two USB-C ports and one USB-A port, while an integrated display reports remaining battery capacity, power output and thermal information. Recharging tops out at 40W, and passthrough charging is supported at up to 15W.
Belkin has priced the 5,000mAh model at $69.99 and the 10,000mAh version at $89.99, with black and sand colour options scheduled to arrive in September 2026.
Those aren’t bargain-bin power bank prices, particularly for the smaller model. The more interesting question is whether BoostSolid Cell genuinely delivers the dramatically longer usable lifespan Belkin is promising. If it does, battery longevity could become a more useful selling point than another incremental increase in charging speed.
