Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is marking the franchise’s busy anniversary year with another limited-time adventure, giving players a new reason to return to the long-running mobile RPG ahead of September’s Back to Hogwarts celebrations.
The new event, called Veiled By Pride, is available now and revolves around the four Hogwarts Houses competing through a series of magical challenges. Players encounter four competitors representing Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin, who must work their way through four trials before reaching a final challenge.
House rivalry provides the setup, but Veiled By Pride does not appear to be built entirely around competition. The adventure also requires characters from opposing Houses to cooperate, adding a familiar Hogwarts theme to what could otherwise have been a straightforward tournament storyline.
The limited-time side quest is split into four parts, with established Hogwarts Mystery characters taking on the role of House representatives. Barnaby Lee, Tulip Karasu and Nymphadora Tonks are among the characters involved, although the precise group players encounter depends on the House they selected for their own character.
Finishing the adventure provides several in-game rewards, including Gems, Chocolate Frogs and XP. Players can also earn a collectible House Crest that is displayed in the Hogwarts Trophy Room, giving completionists a more permanent reminder of an otherwise temporary event.
Veiled By Pride arrives more than eight years after Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery first launched in April 2018. Developed and published by Jam City, the free-to-play RPG for iOS and Android predates Harry Potter’s arrival at Hogwarts and allows players to create a student, select a House, attend classes and develop relationships while progressing through an original storyline.
Keeping a narrative-focused mobile game active for that length of time is notable, particularly in a market where live-service titles constantly compete for returning players. Limited events have become an important part of that model, offering existing users fresh objectives without requiring an entirely new game or major expansion. Veiled By Pride fits neatly into that approach rather than representing a fundamental change to Hogwarts Mystery itself.
The timing also gives the event considerably more visibility. The Harry Potter screen franchise is celebrating 25 years since the release of The Philosopher’s Stone in 2001, while the annual Back to Hogwarts event returns on September 1. HBO’s new Harry Potter television adaptation is also expected to become a major focus for the Wizarding World as its planned Christmas 2026 premiere approaches.
For Hogwarts Mystery, that broader activity creates an opportunity to remain part of the conversation despite the game being several years removed from its launch. Veiled By Pride is relatively modest compared with the larger Harry Potter projects arriving in 2026, but for an eight-year-old mobile RPG, continued story updates suggest Jam City still sees value in keeping Hogwarts’ virtual classrooms occupied.
