Fortnite’s next crossover is reaching into another major gaming ecosystem, with Roblox hit 99 Nights in the Forest set to appear in Epic Games’ battle royale as part of its upcoming seasonal update.
The collaboration has been teased through a short Fortnite video featuring Peely fishing beside a lake before the scene takes a darker turn with the arrival of The Deer, the threatening creature associated with 99 Nights in the Forest. The teaser stops short of detailing exactly what players will get, although the character’s appearance makes some form of cosmetic content a reasonable expectation.
The crossover is expected to arrive around Fortnite’s Override season, which begins on August 20. Epic has yet to provide a complete breakdown of the 99 Nights in the Forest content, so it remains unclear whether this will be limited to cosmetics or extend to weapons, quests, map changes or other gameplay elements.
That distinction matters because Fortnite collaborations have evolved well beyond selling character skins. Over the years, Epic has increasingly used licensed properties as building blocks for seasonal content, occasionally altering locations, introducing temporary mechanics and bringing recognizable items into matches. The result is a game that increasingly functions as a meeting point for entertainment franchises rather than simply a battle royale with guest characters.
99 Nights in the Forest is an interesting choice within that strategy. The Roblox survival horror experience revolves around players establishing and improving a campsite while surviving hostile threats and searching for missing children. According to figures cited for the game, it has accumulated more than 5 million likes and 28 billion visits on Roblox, giving it a sizeable audience to bring into the Fortnite collaboration.
There is also a notable platform dynamic here. Roblox and Fortnite occupy overlapping territory as games, social spaces and platforms for user-driven experiences, even if their approaches are substantially different. A Fortnite crossover built around a successful Roblox experience highlights how increasingly porous those boundaries have become. Popular games inside creator platforms can now develop enough cultural recognition to become crossover properties themselves.
The timing also puts 99 Nights in the Forest among several gaming-focused collaborations connected with Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4. Sonic the Hedgehog, Tetris and Persona 5 are among the other properties confirmed for the season. Some will have a more visible impact on the island, with plans including a Tetris-themed point of interest and an area drawing from Sonic’s Green Hill Zone.
For Epic, the crowded crossover schedule continues a formula that has become central to Fortnite’s identity. For Roblox creators and developers, however, the 99 Nights in the Forest collaboration may be the more interesting development. It demonstrates how an experience born inside Roblox can potentially move beyond that platform and become recognizable intellectual property elsewhere in mainstream gaming.
How substantial that transition becomes will depend on what Epic actually puts into Fortnite on August 20. A skin would make for a neat cameo; deeper integration would make the crossover considerably more significant.
