These precious coins help keep the lights on, the Wi-Fi alive, the coffee flowing, and the ever-growing mountain of “totally necessary review units” from financially destroying us.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Call of Duty: Warzone are heading into the second half of Season 05 with a sizeable Reloaded update on August 20. The mid-season refresh spans Multiplayer, Zombies, Warzone and Endgame, but its biggest moment is arguably reserved for Zombies, where Treyarch is preparing to close the current storyline.

Season 05 Reloaded goes live at 9AM PT, introducing Turbo Tilt as its new Multiplayer map. Rather than another conventional battlefield, the map turns familiar Nuketown imagery into an oversized pinball machine, complete with bumpers, ramps and targets. Nuketown has been reworked repeatedly across the Black Ops series, so the pinball concept is another attempt to squeeze something different out of one of Call of Duty’s most recognisable locations.

Multiplayer is also getting Freerun: Descent, a second obstacle course divided across seven increasingly difficult mobility zones. Cranked Moshpit returns as well, bringing back the familiar pressure of earning kills to keep a countdown timer from reaching zero. Successful eliminations provide buffs, while continued kills and objective play keep players alive.

The more consequential addition is Rex Infernus, the final Round-Based Zombies map for Black Ops 7. It brings the crew’s confrontation with the Warden to a conclusion and introduces Deathspinners and the Web Mother as new enemies. Players will also have access to the Titan Trap, while the Main Quest can be tackled in Standard and Cursed modes for additional rewards.

Rex Infernus expands the Zombies sandbox with Widow’s Wine Perk-a-Cola, which can trap enemies in webs, and the Fully Packed Ultra GobbleGum for boosting weapon power. The TR2 Marksman Rifle and Olympia Shotgun also join the Mystery Box as legacy weapons. Given how much of Black Ops 7’s seasonal identity has been tied to Zombies, Rex Infernus carries more narrative weight than the average mid-season map.

Warzone’s additions are comparatively smaller. Loaded Resurgence will appear as a weekend limited-time mode, while completing a Most Wanted Contract can provide a Quickdrop Kit that reduces squad redeployment time in Resurgence. Special Delivery Drones will also appear during matches, with weapon camos available to players who manage to shoot them down and survive.

Endgame continues its Burn Run Assignment, built around racing through burning checkpoints, collecting power-ups and dealing with enemies and obstacles along the route. More importantly, Season 05 represents the final opportunity for players to access Endgame for free. From next season, the cooperative mode will be restricted to Black Ops 7 owners.

The update rounds things out with the new Mace melee weapon and Weekly Challenge rewards including the RK-9 Calibrated Strike System and Peacekeeper MK1 Gauss Accelerator. Several events are planned across Zombies, Freerun and Warzone Ranked play, alongside the predictable arrival of new paid cosmetic bundles.

Season 05 Reloaded looks less like a reinvention of Black Ops 7 than a closing chapter for several of its existing threads. Rex Infernus will carry much of that responsibility, while the end of free Endgame access suggests Activision is already beginning to draw firmer lines around what remains part of the paid Black Ops 7 experience.
