Sony is giving Marvel’s Wolverine the full limited-edition hardware treatment, unveiling a striking yellow PlayStation 5 console bundle alongside matching DualSense controllers and interchangeable PS5 console covers. The collection launches September 15, the same day as Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Wolverine.
The centrepiece is the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition – Marvel’s Wolverine Battle Yellow Limited Edition Bundle, priced at $649.99 in the US, £569.99 in the UK, €649.99 in Europe and ¥96,980 in Japan. Its bright yellow finish takes inspiration from Wolverine’s classic costume, with black and blue detailing, claw marks and character artwork across the hardware. A matching limited-edition DualSense controller is included.
Despite being sold as a bundle, the package does not appear to include Marvel’s Wolverine itself. Sony also continues to sell the PS5 vertical stand separately, despite promotional images showing the console standing upright.
For existing PS5 owners, buying another console will not be necessary to get the design. Sony is releasing Battle Yellow console covers for compatible PS5 models, including configurations fitted with a disc drive, as well as the PS5 Pro. Those covers are priced at $74.99, £64.99 or €74.99, while the Battle Yellow DualSense costs $84.99, £74.99 or €84.99.
PS5 Pro owners are getting another option called Adamantium, replacing the yellow colour scheme with a silver-white finish referencing the fictional metal bonded to Wolverine’s skeleton. Matching PS5 Pro covers will cost $74.99 in the US, with the Adamantium DualSense priced at $84.99.
The decision to base the actual console bundle on the PS5 Digital Edition is likely to attract attention beyond its design. Sony has faced criticism from players over its evolving approach to physical games, particularly following its decision to stop producing physical editions for new PS5 releases from January 2028.
Marvel’s Wolverine itself will still receive a physical release, according to developer Insomniac Games, and Sony’s decision to offer Wolverine-themed covers for disc-equipped PS5 consoles means physical-media owners are not completely excluded from the collection. Still, launching the branded hardware as a Digital Edition bundle reinforces where Sony increasingly sees the centre of the PlayStation ecosystem.
Limited-edition PlayStation hardware has long served as both merchandise and marketing, and Wolverine is an obvious candidate. The character’s yellow costume translates easily into hardware that looks substantially different from Sony’s standard white PS5 design, while interchangeable covers give existing owners a less expensive route into the collaboration.
The Marvel’s Wolverine PS5 hardware and accessories will be available through PlayStation Direct in supported markets and selected retailers while supplies last. With the game arriving simultaneously, Sony is clearly positioning Wolverine as one of its major PlayStation launches of 2026 — even if collectors who still prefer discs may find the choice of console bundle somewhat less appealing.
