Four free PlayStation demos available without Plus

PlayStation continues its long-standing practice of offering free demos for both PS4 and PS5 owners, giving players a chance to sample upcoming or newly ported titles without a PlayStation Plus subscription. The current batch leans heavily toward smaller, specialized experiences rather than major franchise previews, which reflects how the platform still uses limited free trials to surface indie and mid-tier projects that might otherwise struggle for attention.

Gennady is a roguelike platformer scheduled for a full release later this year. Its visual approach mixes stark black-and-white environments with selective neon accents and draws clear inspiration from 1990s animated platformers such as Earthworm Jim. Players fight through shifting corridors filled with mythological creatures, with each death resetting progress while strengthening the character. The demo lets users test that loop before committing.

Fresh Tracks takes a different direction as a rhythm-action game set on skis. Players jump, dodge, and battle in time with the music while moving across a snowy landscape populated by gods and larger enemies. The combination of music synchronization and winter sports movement aims to differentiate it from standard rhythm titles, though the demo will need to prove whether the dual focus holds together in practice.

Carry the Glass is a cooperative platformer built around a simple, high-stakes premise. Two players control construction workers tasked with transporting a fragile glass pane across obstacle courses and puzzle sequences. Any break forces a restart from the beginning, placing heavy emphasis on communication and timing. The concept tests friendship as much as skill, a familiar co-op design that can either create memorable tension or rapid frustration depending on the partners involved.

Volcano Princess rounds out the selection as a parenting simulation with role-playing elements. Players raise a daughter destined for the throne, making choices that shape both her development and the future of an empire. Multiple branching paths and endings are promised. The demo offers a look at how the systems balance personal decisions against larger political consequences.

These free PlayStation demos serve a practical purpose: they reduce purchase risk for players while giving developers early feedback and visibility. Whether any of the five convert curiosity into full sales will depend on how well the limited samples capture the tone and systems of the finished games. For now they remain available at no cost for anyone with a compatible console.
