The beloved 2D run-and-gun franchise Strike Force Heroes is back, launching today on Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 5. Independently developed by Sky9 Games and published by IndieArk, this new edition revives the fast-paced, side-scrolling action that defined the original series while optimizing it for modern consoles and online play. Priced at $24.99 (USD) / €24.99 (EUR), the release delivers a faithful yet refreshed take on classic arena shooters.

Built for fluid gameplay and competitive multiplayer, Strike Force Heroes combines nostalgic design with modern performance upgrades. Players can choose from four unique character classes, each offering distinct abilities, weapons, and playstyles. Across more than a dozen dynamic maps — from jungle bases to speeding trains and mid-air aircraft battles — teams compete in both PvP and co-op modes that emphasize quick reflexes and strategic coordination.

In addition to its multiplayer focus, the game includes a full story campaign featuring animated cutscenes, sharp dialogue, and large-scale boss battles. Finishing the campaign unlocks harder difficulties, rewarding players with rare loot and upgrades that encourage repeated playthroughs.

Among its standout features:

  • Hero customization: Level up multiple classes, unlock hundreds of weapons, and fine-tune your abilities to create tailored loadouts.
  • Flexible playstyles: Mix and match gear for safe setups or experiment with high-risk, high-reward combinations.
  • Animated storytelling: Follow a campaign packed with humor, cinematic moments, and escalating challenges.
  • Replayability: Harder difficulties and new gear keep post-campaign gameplay fresh.
  • Online multiplayer: For the first time, the campaign supports full co-op play, while PvP modes offer customizable matches with no player limits.

Strike Force Heroes supports both solo and multiplayer experiences, allowing players to seamlessly switch between cooperative missions and competitive matches. The game’s updated engine ensures smoother frame rates, faster matchmaking, and a more responsive combat experience across all platforms.

Sky9 Games — the two-person indie studio founded by programmer Justin Goncalves and artist Mike Sleva — has built a loyal following through its action-focused Flash game heritage, including titles such as Raze and Siegius. Publisher IndieArk, known for supporting creative independent studios with marketing and localization, is handling global distribution.

With its blend of retro gameplay and contemporary polish, Strike Force Heroes aims to capture both longtime fans and new players looking for fast, skill-based action reminiscent of classic arena shooters.
