UGREEN NASync DXP GT series offers capable 2-bay and 4-bay NAS

UGREEN has entered the network-attached storage market with a pair of new models in its NASync DXP GT series, the two-bay DXP2800 GT and the four-bay DXP4800 GT. Positioned as performance-oriented options for users needing reliable local storage and media handling, these devices rely on an AMD Ryzen Embedded R2514 processor with four cores, eight threads, and boost speeds up to 3.7 GHz. Ugreen claims this setup delivers around 26 percent better CPU performance than certain earlier models in its lineup, though real-world gains will depend on workload and configuration.

Both units ship with 8 GB of DDR4 RAM, expandable to 64 GB, and include 64 GB of eMMC storage dedicated to the operating system. They run UGOS Pro, Ugreen’s in-house NAS software, which supports Docker containers, virtual machines, AI-assisted photo organization, a surveillance station for IP cameras, and remote file access through the company’s Ugreenlink service. The latter aims to simplify external connectivity without complex port forwarding or public IP setup, addressing a common pain point for home users.

The DXP2800 GT serves as the more affordable entry point with two SATA HDD bays and two M.2 NVMe SSD slots, for a maximum raw capacity of 80 TB. It features a single 10GbE RJ45 port, front-panel USB-C and USB-A ports at 10 Gbps, additional rear USB ports, and an HDMI 2.1 output for direct display use. In contrast, the DXP4800 GT expands to four SATA bays and the same two M.2 slots, supporting up to 144 TB. Its dual 10GbE ports enable link aggregation for up to 20 Gbps of throughput, making it better suited for demanding tasks such as multi-user 4K or 8K video editing and heavier virtual machine workloads. RAID options on the larger model include JBOD, 0, 1, 5, 6, and 10, while the smaller one follows a similar but slightly narrower set.

Hardware design draws from UGREEN’s typical aesthetic, with a space-gray aluminum chassis accented by gold trim, a rear magnetic dust filter, and a hydraulic fan system that keeps noise levels between 29 and 34 dB. This emphasis on quiet operation makes the units viable for living-room or office placement rather than relegating them to a distant closet, which has historically been a limitation for many NAS devices.

In a market long dominated by established players like Synology and QNAP, Ugreen’s approach brings competitive hardware specifications at relatively accessible prices—$509.99 for the DXP2800 GT and $659.99 for the DXP4800 GT in the US, excluding drives. A two-year warranty and 30-day return policy provide some buyer reassurance. However, reliance on a proprietary operating system raises questions about long-term software support, community plugins, and potential vendor lock-in compared to more open platforms. Users who value broad ecosystem compatibility may need to weigh this carefully against the convenience of UGREEN’s integrated features.
