Apple TV+ has announced that its new crime drama, “Dope Thief,” will premiere globally on Friday, March 14, 2025. The eight-episode series boasts a strong pedigree with creator Peter Craig (“The Batman,” “Top Gun: Maverick”) at the helm, Ridley Scott (“Gladiator,” “The Martian”) directing the first episode and serving as executive producer, and Brian Tyree Henry (“Atlanta,” “Causeway”) starring and executive producing.
“Dope Thief” is based on the novel of the same name by Dennis Tafoya. The series follows two longtime friends from Philadelphia who, posing as DEA agents, plan to rob a seemingly unsuspecting house in the countryside. Their seemingly simple scheme quickly spirals into a dangerous situation with life-or-death stakes as they stumble upon a major drug trafficking operation.
The series features an ensemble cast alongside Henry, including Wagner Moura (“Narcos”), Marin Ireland (“The Umbrella Academy”), Kate Mulgrew (“Star Trek: Prodigy”), Nesta Cooper (“See”), Amir Arison (“The Blacklist”), and Ving Rhames (“Mission: Impossible” franchise).
“Dope Thief” is produced by Apple Studios in association with Scott Free Productions. In addition to Craig, Scott, and Henry, executive producers include David W. Zucker, Richard Heus, Jordan Sheehan, Clayton Krueger, and Jennifer Wiley-Moxley.
The first two episodes of “Dope Thief” will premiere on March 14, 2025, followed by new episodes every Friday through April 25, exclusively on Apple TV+.
